How do SDRCians spend their Sunday? Well, like all well-balanced professionals they spend quality time with their families, play sports, pursue their hobbies, eat healthy, unwind, and of course prepare for a productive week ahead.
The last Sunday (Feb. 9), however, some SDRCians went beyond their comfort zone and call of duty to learn new things, share their knowledge and expertise, and help shape public opinion.
It started with a workshop titled ‘Science and Art Behind Optimised Landing Pages’ organized by DesignNow at Exospace, Esplanade. Senior developer Ripon Nayak, technical analysts Pabitra Pradhan and Satyameba Panda participated in it and learnt how optimized landing pages can enhance conversion rates. How powerful landing pages can be leveraged to go along with an organization’s branding and marketing strategies.
The bootcamp covered the framework on how sales and/or marketing funnel can be created using design principles. Also, how visitors to the app and website can be influenced into specific actions down the funnel and converted into paying users.
Sharing his experience, Ripon said, “Even though the workshop was more suitable for product-based companies, we got to learn a lot about how to create optimized landing pages and effective marketing strategies to reach out to potential clients.”
The next event was a workshop titled ‘Getting Started with Docker’, organized by Google Developer Cloud Bhubaneswar and attended by several software professionals and IT students. SDRC was a part of the organizing committee and technical analyst Subham Ashish shared his knowledge on the technology.
Speaking about his experience, Subham said, “When somebody provides you the platform where you are sharing your knowledge, it gives you immense pleasure.”
The next event was a panel discussion on Odisha budget by The Argus TV and data analyst Rakesh Sharma was among the panelists. When asked about how the state government is going to fulfill the needs of people when it comes to housing for all, he said the state government should aim for sustained economic growth as per the SDGs and it should plan to reduce the loan burden and increase the state share of Odisha budget.
Speaking about his experience, Rakesh said, “Being a data analyst, my perspective has always been fact based. Attending such panel discussions enriched my understanding of different development projects from policy and program point of view.”
